After my academic training, dissatisfied with what I knew- I wanted to deconstruct the painting itself- to break apart and separate what still feels real I eventually reached at, to me, satisfactory depth of abstraction:
-the color without shape
-the act of a brushstroke without a need to be other than the process itself (a moment in time)
-and a whole lotta space for the accidental to pay a visit
Equipped with these fundamentals I took to, one could say, alchemical experimenting- combining elements, exploring patterns, inventing and breaking self imposed rules, paying attention, judging and questioning the outcomes.. and over time realising, that in reality, I have been building- or perhaps, in some sense, self-excavating an internal visual language; a form of communication and learning tied directly to my own capacity to experience, to think and feel- in short to be a human full of unanswered questions.
This language over time grew in complexity allowing me to inquire into both the personal and worldly topics of my interest, exploring the questions related to our shared capacity of meaning making, religion, certainty in life, values, and God knows what else (a pun intended?), where every painting became an opportunity to ask and listen without being force-fed someone else's questionable truths.
So that being said, please don't ask me to explain the shallows and depths pondered in my work- if I could use words perhaps I wouldn't have to paint. All I can tell you is that art became my guide on the journey through the Unknown and Unknowable, journey of the human experience we all share- where each painting I can call finished touches up on something one cannot fully grasp.
That's where I'm at my most joyful.
